In June 2000, quilters from Fontenay-le-Comte presented the Village of Palatine with a remarkable quilt they had made, depicting sights of Fontenay:
- the Église Notre-Dame
- galleried porches
- tiled roofs
- the Vendée
- the Château de Terre-Neuve
- open fields
- the marshes of “La Venise Verte”
- the forest of Mervent
- and the sky in all kinds of weather
It looks like a painting of Fontenay artist Jean Chevolleau, although that was not the initial aim.
